FAAC Gate Installation in Los Angeles: What to Know First

FAAC gate installation in Los Angeles runs $2,400 to $6,800 for most single-family swing or slide gate systems, and we install them as an independent FAAC service provider, not a factory dealer. Typical turnaround is 5 to 10 business days from the written quote to the final test, depending on whether we’re pulling new underground conduit or working with existing wiring. You’ll always see the full number on paper before anything is ordered or opened.

Call (626) 649-4572

If you own a FAAC 400, 415, 770, E024U, or newer C720/C721 operator and need it mounted, wired, and dialed in on a new or existing gate, this page is for you. We’re Latch & Post Gate Repair, part of the Cedarwell family, and we’ve been working FAAC equipment across Los Angeles since 2009. Call (626) 649-4572 and a live person answers, day or night.

How FAAC Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • FAAC 400/402 hydraulic operators develop slow internal leaks around the piston seals after 8 to 12 years. The gate starts drifting open a few inches overnight, then won’t hold closed against the wind. Rather than blindly swapping the whole operator, we bench-test the cylinder, replace the seal kit when it’s still serviceable, and only recommend a full unit when the housing itself shows scoring.
  • FAAC 770 and 750 swing-arm operators shear the plastic release-key housing in Los Angeles heat. The arm works fine, but the manual release won’t turn when you need it. Owners discover this during a power outage. We replace the release mechanism with the OEM part and add a light coating of marine grease that holds up in three-digit Valley summers better than what the factory applied.
  • E024U control boards burn out their capacitor across the line terminals after repeated voltage dips. We see this all over older neighborhoods with overhead utility lines, from Silver Lake to Van Nuys. On installation, we check incoming voltage with the operator under load, not just at rest. If the panel is sagging below 108 volts, we’ll tell you before we mount the new board, because it’ll fail again in a year regardless of brand.
  • FAAC C720 and C721 gate openers arrive with the limit-switch travel length set for European gate weights. On heavier Los Angeles driveway gates, the opener over-runs the stop point and rams the end post. We re-set the travel limits during installation to match the actual gate leaf weight and span, then run ten full open-close cycles with the obstruction sensor armed before we call the job done.
  • The FAAC S800H and other worm-gear slide operators ship with gearbox oil rated for mild climates. By August, the oil thins and the gear whines on a south-facing Hollywood Hills driveway. We drain and refill with a heavier-weight gear oil suited to sustained heat before bolting the operator to its pad, and we note the change date on the inside of the cover.

Our FAAC Gate Installation Process

  1. 1
Site visit and measurement. We measure the gate leaf weight, hinge spread, post depth, and the distance from the operator location to your electrical panel. We ask about kids, pets, and the gate’s daily cycle count, because a gate that opens 40 times a day needs a different setup than one that opens twice.
  2. 2
Written quote. You get a line-item price covering the operator, mounting hardware, conduit or wiring if needed, safety edges, and labor. We don’t start until you approve the number on paper.
  3. 3
Parts decision. We recommend OEM FAAC boards and cylinders where the load or duty cycle demands it, and we’re comfortable using quality aftermarket brackets and safety edges where they perform identically at half the cost. You’ll know exactly which is which and why.
  4. 4
Installation. Our technician lays drop cloths anywhere inside the home, puts on shoe covers before stepping through your door, and asks before moving anything near the work area. We run the conduit, mount the operator, wire the board, and set the travel limits to the inch.
  5. 5
Testing and cleanup. Ten full cycles, obstruction-sensor test, and a photo of the finished clean-up area before we leave. The gate should open quietly and close all the way. That’s really the whole job.
  6. 6
The 365-Day Done Right Promise. If anything about the installation isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right. No argument, no fine print.

What FAAC Gate Installation Costs in Los Angeles

Here’s what we quote for common FAAC jobs across Los Angeles:

  • Single swing gate with FAAC C720 operator, existing conduit: $2,400 to $3,600
  • Dual swing gate with FAAC 770 arms, new wiring run: $4,200 to $6,800
  • Sliding gate with FAAC S800H and rack, existing pad: $3,500 to $5,900
  • Pedestrian gate with FAAC 390 operator, from scratch: $1,900 to $2,800

What moves the price: gate weight and leaf length, whether we’re trenching new conduit or using existing, the condition of your end posts, and how far the operator sits from your electrical panel. Every quote is free, written, and agreed before any work starts. Call (626) 649-4572 and we’ll come measure.

Why Los Angeles Homeowners Call Latch & Post Gate Repair for FAAC Work

Most gate companies in Los Angeles touch FAAC occasionally. We live with it. Cody Beckman studied welding and metal fabrication at L.A. Trade-Tech and has spent the better part of two decades working gates from Palms to the Valley, and we’ve seen every way a FAAC operator can misbehave. When a C721 refuses to close against the wind or a 400 series drifts off its limit, we usually know the cause before we park the van.

We also carry the fix for the brands sitting next to your FAAC in the neighborhood: LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing. And every visit includes the Cedarwell Care Promise: shoe covers and drop cloths inside, a written price before work starts, a cleanup photo before we leave, and a live person on the phone at 3 a.m. if that’s when your gate quits. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every installation we do.
