Most of the work happens at a gate – either it’s stuck, it’s broken, or someone just bought a house and wants one installed. You show up with the right parts, you figure out what’s actually wrong (not just what looks wrong), and you leave the gate working. That’s the job. There’s no script for every situation, which is why we look for people who think on their feet, not people who just follow a flowchart.
At Latch & Post, every job runs under the Cedarwell C.A.R.E. values – shoe covers on before you step inside, a drop cloth down before anything gets opened up, quiet tools if kids are napping, and a written price before a single bolt turns. That’s not optional on our calls. It’s how we’ve operated since 2009, and it’s what keeps customers calling us back instead of someone else.
The work is real, it’s hands-on, and there’s enough of it. Gate repair doesn’t have an off-season.
Who We’re Looking For
- Gate Repair Technician: Someone who can diagnose a broken hinge or a blown control board without replacing the whole unit – the person who knows the difference between what’s worn and what’s actually failed.
- Electric Gate Technician: Comfortable with low-voltage wiring, operator systems, and brands like LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, and Viking – the kind of person who reads a wiring diagram before they start pulling connectors.
- Gate Installer: Precise with measurements, solid on post-setting and alignment, and patient enough to get the swing or slide right before calling the job done.
- Apprentice / Entry-Level Tech: Hardworking, curious, and genuinely good with their hands – doesn’t need to know gates yet, but needs to want to learn them.
- Dispatcher / Service Coordinator: Cool under pressure, clear on the phone, and good at matching jobs to crews without things falling through the cracks – a live person on every call is a real promise we make, and you help keep it.
- Customer Service Representative: The kind of person who listens first, explains second, and never makes a homeowner feel like they’re bothering anyone – especially at 10 p.m. when their gate is stuck open.
What We Offer
Real Training and a Path Forward
We’re factory-trained on the brands families actually own: LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. When you come on board, that training comes with you – structured, hands-on, and tied to real jobs. Apprentices who put in the work move into lead tech roles. There’s a clear path, not just a vague promise of one.
Work You Can Be Proud Of
The Cedarwell C.A.R.E. values aren’t a marketing line. They shape how every call runs – you protect the floors, you explain the price, you take a cleanup photo before you leave. When you work that way, customers notice. The job feels different when you’re doing it right, not just fast. That matters to the kind of people we want on the crew.
Local Crew, National Backing
Each Latch & Post location is independently owned and operated – so you’re part of a tight local team that knows the area, not a number in a corporate system. At the same time, you have the support structure of a national brand behind you: training resources, brand recognition, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise that gives customers confidence and gives you a company worth representing.
Steady, Year-Round Demand
Gates break in summer and they break in winter. Homeowners who’ve wanted an automatic opener for years don’t stop wanting one because the calendar changes. The work is consistent, the service area keeps growing, and the demand for technicians who actually know what they’re doing doesn’t soften. This is a trade with staying power.
No Experience? Read This.
If you’ve done HVAC, electrical, fencing, construction, auto mechanics, or really any hands-on trade work, more transfers than you’d think. Reading a wiring diagram, setting something level, diagnosing why a motor isn’t responding – those skills have a direct home in gate repair.
What we teach is the gate-specific side: how operators work, how to read a control board, what a correct spring tension looks like on a swing gate, how to align a slide gate without fighting it. The first months are structured. You’ll work alongside a lead tech on real jobs – not just watching, but doing – and the training follows the equipment you’ll actually see in the field.
You don’t need to arrive knowing LiftMaster inside out. You need to arrive ready to learn it, and comfortable being honest when you’re not sure yet. That’s the starting point.
How to Apply
Call us at (626) 649-4572 – a live person answers every call, including nights and weekends – or use the contact form below. Tell us where you’re based, what you’ve worked on (even if it wasn’t gates), and when you’re available to start. Hiring happens locally, so your application goes to the crew nearest you. No resume required to start the conversation.
